Andorra is in the heart of the Pyrenees, between Spain and France. It’s total area is 468 km2 situated in the southeast of Europe, between 980 and 2900 meters above sea level.
Known internationally for its ski resorts, shops with very low taxes and its modern hotel and service infrastructures, each year the country receives nearly 8 million visitors.
Andorra is also a paradise for nature lovers: 90% of the country is forest.
Andorra’s GDP in 2007 was $3.66 billion (CIA), with tourism as its principal component. Attractive for shoppers from France and Spain as a free port, the country also has developed active summer and winter tourist resorts. With some 270 hotels and 400 restaurants, as well as many shops, the tourist trade employs a growing portion of the domestic labour force. An estimated 8 million tourists visit annually.
